“Asia is a crucial partner for the European Union (EU), whether economically, politically or culturally. The wider Asian and Asia-Pacific region (including South Asia, South-East Asia, North-East Asia and Australasia) accounts for 56 % of the world’s population, 25 % of world Gross National Product (GNP), and 22 % of the world’s international trade. The region has been the cradle of several of the world’s major religions, and has an unparalleled cultural richness. The region includes the two most populous countries in the world (China and India), and some of the smallest (Brunei and Bhutan); it includes some of the richest countries in the world (Japan, Singapore), and some of the poorest (eight Asian countries are on the United Nations Least-Developed list). India is the world’s largest democracy, while there are countries in the region, which are still subject to military or theocratic dictatorships. Asia has also changed dramatically in recent years, both economically and politically. The ‘East Asian boom’ from the 70s through the 90s was followed by an ‘East Asian crisis’. Post-crisis recovery has thankfully been more rapid than might have been expected, and the underlying economic dynamism of the region is not in question.” (Source: European Commission).
Asia however covers also Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Uzbekistan,…), which is included in the European Commission cooperation, and the largest part of Russia, which takes the first place in the Eurasian context.

The Master’s Degree in International Management specialised in Exchanges with Asia of the University of Le Havre is aimed at forming the most competent professionals in the field of exchanges with Asia.

The competence is also attached to certain values promoted by Europe in general and by France in particular, values related to the long tradition of humanism, the respect of freedom and the principles of justice. The economic attractiveness of the zone must not overshadow those principles, which enliven our educational programme based on learning the technical know-how as well as the language and cultural contexts: exchanges do not deal only with profit making, but also with respect to human dignity and environment. In accordance with “win-win” principle of Asian business philosophy, exchanges have to be beneficial for both sides of business parties.
