Le Havre, a Unesco world heritage site

From the town centre to the beach, the city was destroyed by the bombing in 1944. Auguste Perret, an architect, was then commissioned to rebuild this part of the city. It is this rebuilt 150-hectare area that has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2005. The rebuilt centre forms the administrative, commercial and cultural centre of Le Havre.

Le Havre, greatest port in France

The construction of the port, currently covering an area of 10,000 hectares, was at the origin of the foundation of the city of Le Havre. The port of Le Havre is the leading port in France for container traffic, the leading port for foreign trade and the leading cruise port on the Atlantic coast. In addition, the Normandy region is the greatest seafront of France. It constitutes the leading port complex, as well as the leading French logistics territory.
