Pourquoi avoir choisi notre université pour la poursuite de vos études ?
J’ai principalement choisi l’université du Havre pour son concept innovant de Master entièrement enseigné en Anglais. En effet cette opportunité nous ouvre un grand nombre de porte à l’international. De plus, les offres de formation de niveau ingénieur en Énergies Renouvelables sont récentes et peu nombreuses en France. L’université du Havre par le biais de ce Master constitue donc un très bon tremplin pour le monde professionnel.
Why did you choose our university for your studies ?
At first I was interested by the University of Le Havre for the innovative concept of Master fully taught in English. Indeed this opportunity allows the students to pretend to international careers. Moreover the engineering degrees in Renewables Energies in France are new and rare. The University of Le Havre with this Master provide a real springboard for a successful carrier start.
Pouvez-vous nous présenter votre parcours ?
A la fin de mon Master, j’ai effectué mon stage de fin d’étude à l’université d’Exeter, et attaché au Groupe “Offshore Renewable Energy”. Ce stage s’est poursuivi par un contrat d’un an au sein du même Groupe. Le projet traitait sur le développement et la qualification d’un nouveau système d’ancrage pour des convertisseurs d’énergie de vagues, et il m’a mené à un doctorat à l’Université de Perth, afin d’explorer les effets de chargement cyclique multidirectionnel sur des systèmes d’ancrage partagés pour des dispositifs marins d’énergie renouvelable.
May you present us your background?
At the end of MSc. Manuel has carried out his final year internship at the University of Exeter within the Offshore Renewable Energy group. The internship leads to a contract as a Research Fellow for a year with the same research group. The project dealt with the development and the qualification of a novel anchoring system for wave energy converters. This led him to undertaking a PhD at the University of Western Australia in 2015 to explore the effects of multidirectional cycling loading on shared anchoring systems for Marine Renewable Energy devices.
Que diriez-vous de votre formation à l’université du Havre à l’attention d’autres (futurs) étudiants ?
L’atout de cette formation est également marqué par la nature du corps enseignant. En effet nombre d’industriels et enseignants chercheurs acteurs du développement des Énergie Renouvelables participent à cette formation. De plus les étudiants de cette formation sont issus de différent pays. Durant ma promotion en 2012/2013, dix nationalités furent représentées. Cela présente une occasion remarquable pour découvrir de nouvelles cultures et personnalités.
Would you recommend this education to other (future) students?
The attractive feature of this degree remains in the composition of the teaching staff. Many industrial actors and academic lecturer participate to this formation. Also the numerous nationalities of the students within the Master constitute a cosmopolitan aspect. Not less than ten countries were represented during the year 2012/2013. This is a great opportunity to discover new cultures and new peoples.
Quels sont maintenant vos projets ?
Mon principal projet est de mener à bien mes travaux de recherches en Australie. Toutefois d’autres projets tels que la découverte du monde et la création de nouvelle amitié sont également à l’ordre du jour.
What are now your projects ?
My main goal is to achieve successfully my research work in Australia for the next few years. However such plan like discovering the world or creating new friendships will also be important to achieve.
