Central councils
The university’s operations are based on two councils: the Board of Directors and the Academic Council. The latter brings together the members of the Research Commission and the Training and University Life Commission.
Board of Directors (BOD)
Composition: 36 members: 8 professors and lecturers; 8 other professors and lecturers; 6 students; 6 Biatss (library, engineering, administrative, technical, health and social staff) and 8 outside personalities} On the proposal of the President, the Board of Directors elects vice-presidents (3 maximum), the first of whom must be a professor. The Board determines the establishment’s policy, votes on the budget and approves the accounts. On the recommendation of the President, and in accordance with national priorities, it determines the distribution of the jobs allocated to it. Each year, it approves the President’s activity report and the social report, after consulting the Technical Committee.
Academic Council (CAc)
Created by the Higher Education and Research Act of July 22, 2013 (ESR Act), the Academic Council brings together the members of the Research Commission (formerly the Scientific Council) and the Training and University Life Commission (formerly the Board of Studies and University Life). It has 80 members, drawn from both commissions. In plenary session, the Academic Council is consulted or can issue recommendations on the direction of policies for training, research, the dissemination of scientific culture, scientific and technical documentation, the qualifications to be given to teaching-research and research posts, and applications for accreditation of training courses. It proposes to the Board of Directors a multi-year master plan for disability policy, covering all areas of disability. After consultation with the Technical Committee, this plan defines the objectives that the establishment will pursue in accordance with its obligations. It is consulted on all measures aimed at guaranteeing students’ academic, trade union and political freedoms.
Research Commission (CR)
Membership: 40 members: 28 professors-researchers, PhDs, teachers and researchers; 3 engineers and technicians; 1 other staff; 4 PhD students; 4 outside personalities.
The Research Commission is consulted on research policy guidelines and on the distribution of research credits allocated by the Board of Directors.
It sets the operating rules for laboratories and adopts measures to enable students to develop activities to disseminate scientific, technical and industrial culture.
Training and University Life Committee (CFVU)
Membership: 40 members: 8 professors and lecturers; 8 other professors and lecturers; 16 students; 4 support staff; 4 outside personalities.
The Training and University Life Committee is consulted on teaching policy and training-related issues, and allocates the resources earmarked for training by the Board of Governors.
It is consulted on students’ living and studying conditions, adopting rules for examinations and teaching assessments, measures to ensure the success of as many students as possible, guidance for students and their entry into working life, cultural, sporting, social and community activities...
