Sponsorship: One researcher, one teacher, one class

Updated on: 10/06/2026

The “one researcher, one teacher, one class” sponsorship program is a project set up by the Rouen education authority for higher education establishments in the Normandy region. The project brings together a researcher from a research laboratory at the Université Le Havre Normandie with a high school class and teacher. The aim is to introduce high-school students to the world of academia and research in particular.

Various activities take place throughout the year:

  • visits to the University, including lecture halls, tutorial and practical work rooms, the library, etc., as well as research laboratories,
  • discussions about the profession of researcher,
  • popular science conferences at the University,
  • presentations by researchers to high school students,
  • practical sessions based on popular science experiments.

The project concludes with a “presentation session”: all the classes and mentors taking part in the project meet at the end of the year in one of the University’s lecture halls. Each class gives a presentation on the activities carried out and the scientific topics addressed during the year.

The “one researcher, one teacher, one class” mentoring scheme has existed for more than ten years and has been very successful among high school students.

This mentoring scheme is supported by the institutions through the allocation of a few additional teaching hours for the participating teachers.
